A good rule of thumb is to open the game <0>every 7 days</0>. Depending on your platform, step source (wearable vs phone) and other factors beyond our control, steps can be loaded from 10-30 days in the past, but these can vary. Opening the game once every week should prevent you from losing any steps, though.

By default, your characters and progress are saved to the cloud, but it's a good idea to check that your progress is saved before moving over. Playing the game on two devices is also against the rules, so to make sure that you're not flagged by anti-cheat, you should delete the game on your old device, before opening it on the new one. Here are the steps to do that:
